If you are only going to be attending the wedding without doing any Seattle sight-seeing, we highly recommend that you book accommodations on Port Townsend for Friday and Saturday night since getting to and from Port Townsend requires taking a ferry and then an hour drive. While the ferry ride is short (35 minutes) and runs fairly regularly, in the summer months there can be significant waits (2-3 hours) to get over on Fridays and Saturdays and back on Saturday nights. You can get more information from the Washington State Ferries. The simplest way to deal with the ferry is to arrive in Port Townsend as early as possible Friday afternoon and leave Sunday morning after breakfast at the B&B. We've suggested several inns and bed and breakfasts in Port Townsend. We recommend that you schedule flights out of Seattle mid-afternoon or later so that you have time to enjoy Sunday morning in PT, make the ferry, survive the strip-searches at security and still make it on board before the gates close. If you are arriving in Seattle from out of town prior to Friday morning, you will probably want to stay in the Seattle area unless you're looking to get away for a few days beforehand. We have suggested some hotels in Seattle proper, located no more than 10-15 minutes away from Todd's house and from downtown. Note: Because June is a very popular month to visit Seattle and Port Townsend, we highly recommend making your reservations ASAP. |
