What to wear | ![]() |
| The suggested dress code for the wedding is summer semi-formal. In other words, wear what you think you will feel comfortable in for a church wedding followed by a outdoor reception on the waterfront. The wedding party will wear tuxedos and dresses and we guess that their will be quite a few suits, ties and sun dresses in the crowd. We think the most important clothing item to bring is something that will keep you warm at the reception. With the reception outside on the waterfront, it will probably get a bit chilly at certain times during the afternoon/evening, particularly for those of you coming in from the warmer climes such as Colorado, Texas, New Jersey, Chicago and Florida. If you have never visited the Northwest this time of year, you may be under the misconception that June 29th is in the summer. Here in the northwest, we know differently. The average June temperature is in the low 70's and the average June monthly rainfall is about 1-2 inches. Real summer in Seattle generally rolls in sometime after the 4th of July. June is generally nice although it is normal to experience some cool and wet days throughout the month. The sea breezes coming off the water can easily drop the temperature another 5 or 10 degrees. For this reason, we expect to see quite a few fleece jackets getting pulled out at various times during the reception. Even the most beautiful summer days in Port Townsend generally end with a nice, cool evening. Rain is not unheard of in this area, so we suggest keeping a jacket and maybe an umbrella close by in case the inevitable shower comes to visit.
